Source

I’ve been having a really hard time with finding sources. I finally found another that kind of goes with what I’m doing. I have been trying to figure out if tumblr has essentially caused a growth in interests in visual arts. I think I will have to broaden my topic to include internet in general. This source I found talks about how the internet has affected the arts and how it has made the arts much easier to share and find (as with any other thing on the internet). It also talks about how the Internet has made it easier for underground artists to finally show off their art to the world and to people in other places of the world just as well as the more popular artists.

Bogost

After a lot of time spent looking for games (more time searching than actually, in fact), I found the senior citizens driving game on Wednesday. I tried it and I had a really hard time playing. Steering was really hard in this game. I tried out another game but couldn’t really find any that seemed extremely interesting. I played a game about the government’s budget and spending. I’m not one for politics but I played anyways. You had to pretty much decide how money should be spent in different areas and where to cut funding. It was easy to figure out but it was very boring.

Visual Arts and tumblr

It was a bit hard coming up with articles relating directly to my research question, which was about how tumblr has affected the visual arts world and people’s interest in the visual arts. I did however find an article that made something to clear to me, tumblr is a great blog for those of us with short attention spans. It’s true for me. I lose interest in reading lengthy blog posts and even tire talking a lot on here. On my personal tumblr I don’t have lengthy text posts. This tumblr is different thought because it obviously relates to class that allows us to research something we are actually interested in. I think throughout my research I will be excited to talk more about it.

Tumblr just recently reached their 10 billionth post earlier this month. Just a year ago they reached their billionth post. That’s a huge jump. This shows that people are posting more and more. Most of what’s on tumblr is visual. I feel like this is a significant fact in my research. I have yet to find out whether or not it is directly related to people’s interest in the visual arts growing but It’s a starting point for my research and definitely something to remember.
